Jazz ("we," "us," "our") is an AI personal assistant built by Jack Dempsey. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how we use it, and how you can control it.
The short version: Jazz only accesses your data to help you. We don't sell your data, we don't use it to train AI models, and we don't share it with advertisers. You can disconnect any data source or delete your account at any time.
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to create your Jazz account and authenticate you.
With your permission, Jazz reads your calendar events and calendar list so it can provide schedule awareness — reminding you of conflicts, suggesting meeting times, and showing your upcoming day. Jazz can also create events on your calendar when you explicitly ask. We request the following Google OAuth scopes:
If you choose to connect Gmail, Jazz can read your recent inbox to surface important messages and send emails on your behalf when you explicitly request it. Gmail access is never required and is only enabled when you opt in from Settings. We request:
If you grant access, Jazz syncs your phone contacts so it can help you coordinate gatherings, send messages to the right people, and remember context about the people in your life. Contact data is stored in your private Firestore account.
On iOS, Jazz can read your Apple Calendar and Reminders via the device's EventKit framework. This data is read on-device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you initiate a sync.
Messages you send to Jazz and Jazz's responses are stored in your private Firestore account to maintain conversation history and context. Jazz uses these conversations to build a memory profile that helps it assist you better over time.
Jazz maintains structured memory about people, places, projects, goals, and events you discuss. This memory is stored in your private Firestore account and is only used to personalize your experience.
Jazz sends text messages for gathering invitations and time-sensitive notifications. See our SMS consent disclosure for details. Message and data rates may apply.
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Providing schedule awareness | Google Calendar events, Apple Calendar events |
| Email triage and sending | Gmail messages (when connected) |
| Coordinating gatherings | Contacts, calendar availability |
| Personalizing responses | Conversation history, memory profile, entities |
| Creating events and reminders | Calendar write access, Reminders |
| Sending invitations | Contact phone numbers and emails |
| Authentication | Google account info |
Jazz uses Anthropic's Claude API to process your messages and generate responses. When you send a message, relevant context (your recent calendar, memory profile, and conversation history) is sent to the Claude API to generate a helpful response.
Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train their models. Your conversations with Jazz are not used to improve Claude or any other AI system. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details.
Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with security rules that restrict access to your account only. Each user's data is isolated — no other user or admin can read your conversations, memory, or synced data without your Firebase authentication credentials.
We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Google OAuth tokens are handled by Google's SDKs and are never stored on our servers in plaintext.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:
You can disconnect Google Calendar, Gmail, Contacts, or any other data source at any time from the Jazz app settings. Disconnecting stops future data access immediately.
You can request deletion of your Jazz account and all associated data by contacting support@heyjazz.ai. We will delete your Firestore data, memory profile, conversation history, and any synced data within 30 days.
You can revoke Jazz's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
You can request a copy of your Jazz data by contacting support@heyjazz.ai.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Backups may persist for up to 90 days before being purged.
Synced data (calendar events, emails) is refreshed on each sync and not retained beyond the current snapshot unless it has been incorporated into your memory profile through conversation.
Jazz is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact support@heyjazz.ai.
If you are in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (which you provide when connecting data sources) and legitimate interest (providing the service you signed up for). You have the right to access, rectify, delete, or port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact support@heyjazz.ai to exercise these rights.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the Jazz app or email. The "effective" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
